Your prayers are yours.
Here is exactly what My Prayer Card keeps, why, and who can see it.
Last updated: October 26, 2026
The short version
- No ads, ever.
- We never sell, rent or share your prayers or your information.
- You do not need an account, a password or an email address to use the card.
- People who pray never pay.
What the card keeps
When you use the prayer card, we store only what is needed to make it work:
- The prayer requests, updates, dates and praise notes you write.
- Stories and photos you choose to share in your group's Answered Prayer Book.
- The initials or short name you choose to add to a request, if any.
- Your group's name and its code, if you start or join a group.
- A count of how many times a request has been prayed for.
- A random number that stands for your device, not for you. It lets the card count one "I prayed" a day and slows down wrong guesses at a code.
- Reports you send about a request that should not be on the card. When a request is reported, we are told by email, the group's leader is shown it on their card to keep or remove, and, if your church is on a Church or Group Plan, the church staff who manage its plan are emailed the request so they can follow up.
Who can see your prayers
Prayer requests often mention other people. Please use first names or initials, and share someone's health or personal news only if they would be comfortable with it.
- Personal requests are stored so that only your own device can open them. No one in your group can see them.
- Group requests can be read by anyone who has your group's code. Please share the code only with your group, and write requests the way you would on a card passed around the room.
- If your church is on a Church or Group Plan, a request or story you choose to share with your whole church can be read by everyone in that church's prayer groups. Nothing goes to the whole church unless you choose it, and you can take it back.
- A group request you mark "pastors only" (or "group leader only") can be read only from the device that wrote it, by your group's leader, and, if your church is on a Church or Group Plan, by the church staff who manage its plan. It never goes to the rest of the group or the whole church, the prayer letter, the Answered Prayer Book, or printed cards. When one is added, the church staff get an email saying a prayer is waiting; the email does not include the prayer itself.
- Older prayers move down to "Earlier prayers" under the card: answered prayers after 30 days, and prayers no one has prayed for or updated in 90 days. They are not deleted, and the same people can still see them.
- A private card link can be opened by anyone you send it to. It closes on its own after 30 days unless you open it again, and you can stop it at any time.
The Answered Prayer Book
A group can keep a book of answered prayers. If you choose to share a story, we store what you write, the kind of prayer, the verse you choose, your initials or first name if you give them, and a photo if you add one.
Your group's leader reads each story before it is added. Only people with your group's code can open the book. Photos are kept at a private web address that is not listed anywhere, but anyone who is given that exact address could open the photo, so please share only pictures you would be glad for your church to see.
Please share a story or photo only if everyone in it is happy for it to be shared. You can take your own story back from the same phone you sent it from, your leader can remove any story, and you can always email us to have one removed.
What stays on your phone or computer
Because there is no login, your device remembers a few things for you: your group code, your initials, your chosen reading voice, and a private key that marks your personal requests and private cards as yours. This is kept in your browser's storage. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking tools.
If you clear your browser's data or change devices, that key is gone, and we may not be able to bring your personal requests back.
If you choose "Save my card", we send one email to the address you type. That email holds your private key, so you can bring your cards back if your device loses them. My Prayer Card does not keep your email address; it is used once, to send that email through our mail service. Anyone who can read that email can open your cards, so please send it only to yourself.
If you choose "Open my cards on my computer or tablet", that same private key is copied to the other device by the code you type there, or by the link or square code you open there. The typed code works once and stops working after 15 minutes.
So that your devices can show the same cards, the list of cards on your device (your group codes and the keys that mark your own prayers and the groups you lead) is saved with your personal card. It is scrambled on your device before it is sent, and it is opened only with your private key.
Check-in reminders you set are kept on your device only. We never see them, and the card sends no notifications.
Quick prayers you save are kept on your device only until you put them on a card, and we never see them before then. If you speak, your phone's own keyboard can turn your words into text. If you choose Record my voice, the recording also stays on your device until you put the prayer on a card. Then it is saved with that prayer like any recorded prayer, for you alone to hear, for one year, and you can remove it any time.
Saying a memory verse aloud
In Fill in the blanks, you can say a memory verse out loud to fill in its missing words. The first time, the card asks. Your phone's own speech service (Apple on an iPhone or iPad, Google in Chrome and on Android) turns your voice into words. My Prayer Card receives only those words, uses them on your phone to check the blanks, and does not keep them or your voice. Typing always works instead.
On a Church or Group Plan, the game keeps your points, your streak of days, your badges and which verses you have learned by heart, under the same private key as your own card. Your group's goal is one shared number: how many verses the group learned together this month and how many people took part. No one is ranked, and no one in the group is told who learned what.
Reading aloud
The first time anything is to be read aloud, the card asks which voice to use. If you choose the natural voice, the words to be read are sent to ElevenLabs, an AI voice service, and the sound is sent back to you. If you choose your device's own voice, nothing is sent. You can change this in Settings. So that the same prayer is not sent again each time someone in your group listens, the sound of a line read in the natural voice is kept privately for up to 30 days and played again. It is filed under a scrambled fingerprint of the words, not the words themselves, so it can only be found by someone who already has those exact words. After 30 days it is no longer played. We keep a simple daily count so the feature is not misused.
My Prayer Card's own wording, such as the guided tours and the pages of this website, is always read in the natural voice, whichever you choose. None of your words are part of it.
Scanning a paper card
If you choose to scan a paper card, the screen first tells you where the photo goes and waits for your yes. The photo is sent to Anthropic, an AI service, through Base44, only so the handwriting can be read, and the words come back for you to check. My Prayer Card does not keep the photo. Nothing is added to your card until you press Add. We keep a simple daily count so the feature is not misused.
Paper cards often name other people, so a scanned card goes onto your own card only, where no one else can see it.
Recorded prayers
If you choose to record a prayer, your device asks for the microphone first. It is used only while you are recording, and nothing is saved until you press Send.
You choose who can hear it: only the person who asked for the prayer, or everyone with your group's code. On your own card, only you can hear it. A group leader cannot hear a recording made only for the person who asked.
Recordings are kept as private files and play only through a link that works for a few minutes. After one year a recording can no longer be played and is taken off the card. The person who prayed, the person who asked and the group leader can remove a recording at any time, and it is removed when the prayer itself is removed. A recording someone reports is hidden for everyone until we look at it.
Recordings are not sent to any AI service and are not used for anything else. Your voice is personal, so please use first names or initials, never full names, when you pray aloud.
Support gifts, church plans and the shop
If you give a support gift, sponsor a church or buy a church plan, we keep your name, email address, the amount, and for churches the church name, contact person and city. Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
If you ask to be told when a shop item is ready, we keep your name and email for that purpose only.
The companies that help us run My Prayer Card
Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Like most websites, the service that hosts My Prayer Card sees your internet address when you connect and keeps basic visit records. We use the address only to slow down repeated wrong guesses at a code.
- Base44, which hosts the website and stores the card's data.
- Stripe, which handles payments and sends receipts.
- ElevenLabs, which makes the reading voices.
- Anthropic, which reads the handwriting when you scan a paper card.
Changing or removing your information
You can edit or remove your own requests in the card at any time. To have a group, a request or your contact details removed for you, email us and we will take care of it.
Children
My Prayer Card is made for people 13 and older, and for church and youth groups. Children under 13 may use it only by joining a group that a leader started, with the group's code. They may not keep a card just for themselves or start a group, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Everyone on the card uses first names or initials, never full names.
When a request mentions self-harm, abuse or not being safe, the person writing it is shown 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) and is encouraged to tell a leader, a parent or another adult they trust. In a group, only the group's leader sees a gentle note to check on that prayer. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
